By Road
(if using Sat
Nav the post code for the Wote Street Club is RG21 7NG)
From
whichever
direction
you are
coming
follow the
signs to
Basingstoke
Town
Centre. In
every case
this will
involve
using part
of the
outer ring
road to
reach the
main
East/West
dual
carriageway
spine road
(Churchill
Way). Once on Churchill
Way, whether
you are
approaching
from the
east or
west, you
will come
to the
main, five
directional,
traffic
light
controlled,
town
centre (Eastrop)
roundabout.
The most
significant
building
at this
roundabout
is the
massive
blue-glassed
'Churchill
Place'
building.
You should
leave this
roundabout
following
the signs
to the
'Top of
Town' the
'Haymarket
Theatre'.
You
are now on
the inner
ring road
and will
see the
Vue Cinema
ahead of
you.
Continue
to follow
the brown
signs to
the
'Haymarket
Theatre'.
Keep to
the left
hand lane
as you
reach New Road.
Pass the
Festival
Place
shopping
complex on
your
right,
bear left
to go up
the hill
(a one way
system)
and
immediately
get in the
right hand
lane; the
road is
marked
“West
and Car
Park”.
Continue
past
Alexander
& Dry
Funeral
Directors
on your
right and
over the
Pedestrian
traffic
lights
towards
the top of
the hill.
At the
sign to
the Magistrates
Court on your
left and before Phillips
Solicitors
and the
next set
of traffic
lights,
still
following
the
Haymarket
Theatre
brown
sign, turn
sharp
right into Red Lion
Lane . The Red
Lion hotel
will then
be on your
left. Turn
right into
the
Central
Car Park (Ringo 1901).
The Wote
Street
Club is at
the bottom
of the car
park (in
front of
Debenhams)
with two
doors to
the lounge
facing the
Red Lion
hotel. Pay
£2.40 for
evening
parking
and enter
the Club
by the
left hand
of the two
doors into
the
lounge.
Doors
usually
open at
7pm.
On
occasions,
particularly
if
arriving
relatively
late, all
the
parking
spaces in
the
Central
Car Park
and the
few
surrounding
areas will
be taken.
Should
this be
the case
you should
return to
the one
way inner
ring road
(New Road), turn
right out
of Red Lion
Lane, cross
the
traffic
lights
and,
keeping in
the right
hand lane,
bear
right. You
will find
a few
parking
areas on
the right
and the
large
Castons
Car Park
on the
left, (Ringo 1908) just
beyond the
apartment
buildings. You
will need
to pay £2.40
for the
evening.
From here
there are
a number
of
alleyways
between
the
buildings
which
brings you
into the
old Market
Square. The best
is the one
between
Barclays
Bank and
McDonalds.
From the
Market
Square,
dominated
by the
Willis
Museum
building,
head
diagonally
right down Wote
Street and past
the
Haymarket
Theatre.
Before
going into
the
enclosed
shopping
area at
the bottom
of this
pedestrianised
street,
turn right
into the
open paved
area and
you will
see the
Wote
Street
Club in
front of
you with
Debenhams
on your
left.
Allow ten
minutes to
find this
alternative
parking
and walk
from these
car parks
to the
Club.
